TGMA: Amerado seeks clarification over Kwaku Ananse’s snub.

Ghanaian rapper, Amerado, has expressed his worries over his song, Kwaku Ananse, not scoring nominations at the 25th edition of Ghana Music Awards.

The rapper believes the original version of the song is bigger than the remix, so it’s only right to get nominated if the remix version scored nominations.

Amerado questioned the organisers in a twitter post which sparked so many conversations.

In an interview with Ato Kwamina Otoo D’gem on Takoradi based Connect FM, the Kwaku Ananse crooner once again registered his worries over the snub.

“The remix and the original version are two separate songs because it has two different verses so if you’ve nominated the remix version, why don’t you nominate the original version which was even bigger?” – he quizzed.
When asked if he truly believes the original version is bigger than the remix, he said;

“No doubt! No doubt! No doubt!… I’m sure if you even open your phone lines, they fans listening will tell you.

“I love the remix; shoutout to my brother Fameye but we all know the original came first and no one will do a remix to a song if the original one wasn’t a hit.”

When asked if he feels disappointed, the rapper said;

“We are shocked and worried because we’re expecting them (TGMA) to explain things to us. Because if not, it’s like I’ve worked so hard and been treated like this,” he said.

It’s no brainer that some artistes really get hurt if they feel their works deserve to be nominated but don’t get nominated. He was asked if he feels hurt by the situation.

He explained that he always takes things serious and what has happened might affect people looking up to him and his colleagues.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I’m very passionate about what I do, and there are other young ones who would want to be like me or other artistes so when they see these things, I don’t think they’ll be happy about it.

“I believe there will be an explanation as to why the original version wasn’t nominated and if it’s makes sense, why not?” he said.

The 2023 Ghana Music Awards “Best Rap Performance” winner believes the organisers need to make things clearer by explaining things because every scheme has their principles.

“Every award schemes has their principles and rules so if we made any mistake or if any reasonable explanation is given as to this and that is why the song wasn’t nominated, there’s nothing to do than to accept.

“However, I don’t believe I and my team made any mistake.

“My team are in conversation with the organisers of the awards but I know I have an abled team so they’ll sort things out,” he stated.
