Keche Joshua, who forms the music duo KECHE, with Andrews, has revealed in an interview on Metro TV that, for an artiste based in Sekondi-Takoradi to succeed musically, you have to move to either Accra or Kumasi.

The rapper intimated that the media in Sekondi-Takoradi is not strong and loud enough to push artistes to where they want to be.

Joshua believes Sekondi-Takoradi houses talented rappers and singers but it very difficult to make it big while staying in Sekondi-Takoradi.

“You can be in Takoradi for 10 years, if you don’t move, you’d be at the same level. If you want to blow, move to Accra or Kumasi and take it back.

“Because for Takoradi, nobody is ready, the media there is not strong enough to promote the boys to get to the level they want to get to. Kinaata was so huge in Takoradi but nobody knew him anywhere outside Takoradi,” he said.

Keche Joshua also asserted that, Kumasi artistes have found their way and they now don’t need to move to Accra to make a name for themselves.

“Unlike Kumasi, artistes will emerge in Kumasi and we’ll hear in them in Accra by force. We have many talented rappers but nobody gets to hear of them; not even people in Cape Coast.”

He cited that the situation in Sekondi-Takoradi is akin to that of Tamale and he always advised talents to move to places where the music thing is loud so they can make it big musically.

“Takoradi is just like Tamale, when you go there, you’ll see a lot of good artistes there but they go anywhere and I don’t know what the problem is.

“So I keep telling them ‘bro, you have the talent so move; come to Accra or Kumasi or anywhere the music thing is loud.'”
